7. Insurance and retirement benefits today must be actively managed. This will assure that increases in health and other insurance premiums do not exceed budgetary constraints, and that they provide sufficient coverages in key areas. Retirement investment performance must be reviewed, plan design changes made when necessary, required discrimination testing performed, and reporting forms properly filed.

8. Occupational safety and health law compliance, and preventative safety programs are required to assure that the employer's duty to provide a safe workplace is maintained.

9. Increases in employee productivity can be obtained through well designed training and employee development programs, to assure constant updating of employee skills.

10. Management of careers within an organization can assure that the employee's development continues within the job structure provided by the organization. In that way, the interests of both the employee and the organization can be accomplished.

11. The power and impact of a duly authorized organization of employees can be managed within the guidelines of labor law. Labor peace can be assured through both sincere collective bargaining, as well as proper administration of existing agreements. Arbitration of grievances can maintain a working relationship with the union.

12. Assessment of the performance of the Human Resources Management Department within an organization is necessary to assure that the original goals of each function are still being realized. Corrective action must be taken to accomplish objectives.
